The Moral Path to Prosperity
by Blaine Winship
ARE YOU ALARMED ABOUT THE ECONOMY? YOUR JOB SECURITY?
YOUR RETIREMENT? YOUR HOME’S VALUE? OUR GOVERNMENT’S SOARING DEBTS? THE “DUMBING DOWN” IN PUBLIC EDUCATION?
THE SURGE IN VIOLENCE AND INTERRACIAL TENSIONS?
HERE’S SOME LONG-OVERDUE GOOD NEWS: WE CAN FIX ALL OF THIS. THAT’S BECAUSE THE SOLUTIONS, LIKE THE PROBLEMS, TURN ON CORE MORAL VALUES—VALUES ABOUT WHO WE SHOULD BE AS PERSONS, HOW WE SHOULD INTERACT WITH ONE ANOTHER, HOW OUR CHILDREN SHOULD BE RAISED, AND THE ROLE THAT GOVERNMENT SHOULD PLAY IN OUR LIVES.
MORALNOMICS: THE MORAL PATH TO PROSPERITY DARES TO BRING BACK THE “M” WORD. But this time, the morality is universal, being objectively anchored in human nature—as revealed by what has and has not worked to elevate the human condition, including our living standards and our economic performance. Regardless of whether you believe that human nature comes from a kind and loving God, or you don’t believe in God, or you simply prefer that religion and public policy not be mixed, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU.
Moralnomics takes us on a journey that begins with encouraging individuals to grow their capacties for being of value to others and for bonding empathically with one another. Building on these twin pillars of personal growth, Moralnomics shows how basic moral rules and higher moral principles enable us to protect civilization and to create widespread, lasting prosperity.
Moralnomics refutes the narrative that America is evil, greedy, and oppressive. Our nation's past moral flaws should not be forgotten, but they pale alongside the moral advancements for which America has stood in leading the way to unprecedented worldwide improvements in living conditions and life spans, and in opposing repressive top-down regimes that inflicted misery and poverty on the masses.
Moralnomics exposes the immorality of class-warfare rhetoric, through which the top-down liberals/progressives push the bogus message that our poor, our minorities, and even our illegal immigrants occupy the moral high ground over the rest of us. This message has greatly harmed our minority children, by suggesting that they should not have to strive to better their situations through education and effort as the rest of us must do—or, worse yet, that achieving success is simply beyond them. This has led them to reject educational opportunities made available at huge expense, and instead to embrace the dead-ends of handouts, victimhood, and us-versus-them mentality—precisely as the top-downers intended.
Moralnomics provides the answers we need to create a New Majority of morally-anchored Americans dedicated to civilization, freedom, and pursuit of happiness. It is THE ULTIMATE ANTI-POVERTY PROGRAM, charting the road forward to a better tomorrow by bringing out the best in all of us as individuals—no matter our race, gender, age, or ethnicity.
